A HORRIBLE SIGHT.

It makes one sick to read the following from a recent Argus :—A correspondent calls attention to a gross outrage on decency alleged to have taken place recently at Footseray. Tho body of a man wliicii had been found floatiug iu the Saltwater River, blackened and swollen as it was from several days' immersion, was placed, not on a stretcher, but on a hand barrow, which was much too short. Without any covering whatever, the head and feet of the corpse hanging over the ends, and swaying about as the men carrying it walked, tho ghastly spectacle proceeded through the streets, causing one lady to go into a fit on unexpectedly confronting it. The morgue not being ready for use, as it was undergoing repair.-!, the remains were taken to the ■Itanley Arms Hotel. An objection was raised to its admission. Half an hour was occupied in surmounting this difficulty, ami during the whole time the dead body lay on the footpath, still uncovered,, rendering tho surrounding atmosphere offensive. The residents feel strongly that some arrangements should he made to prevent the recurrence of such a scene.
