DREADFUL WEATHER.

The police received a telegram this evening from Melensville, stating that the steamer Stalfa of the Northern Company, had put into the Kaipara, through stress of weather, She was bound from Hokiang.i to Manukau, an i experienced dreadful weather off the coast yesterday morning. One of her passengers named McLennan was; washed overboard and drowned, The weather has been phenomenally cold to-day, with frequent biting showers.
