The intelligence received by cable som« time back, that the shipment of butter from the New Zealand Frozen Meat Company had been sold at a loss, has since been found to be less discouraging than appeared at first sight. In another column we reprint from the Herald a paragraph containing fuller advices received from the English consignees, from which it will be seen that the special lot of butter failed to command a good price owing to the timidity of the buyers towards an article new to them, aud of the quality of which they hud no guarantee. 'The consignees, however, speak very highly of the butter itself and of its get up and general appearance, expressing themselves very satisfied that if the Company will forward regular shipments, and in larger lots, they will bo able to place them in good markets at top prices. This is re-assuring, and strengthens our anticipations that the butter industry will develope into one of our most important staples for export.
