TRINITY WESLEYAN CHURCH, HAMILTON.
A very pleasant and social valedictory tea was tendered the Rev. Mr and Mrs Dellow by their friends on Friday night last in the schoolroom. About 40 people sat down. There was an excellent spread, to which ample justice wae done. After tea the following address was presented by Mr N. R. Cox on behalf of the Church :—" To the Rev. John Dellow. — Dear sir,—l am directed, on behalf of the members and communicants of Trinity Wesleyan Church, to convey to you their sincere regret at your departure from amongst us, and beg your acceptance of a very small token of their esteem. We pray that God may guard and bless you iu your new sphere of labour, and that your health, and that of your family, may be lon» preserved. —(Signed) N. R. Cox, circuit steward. Hamilton, March 23rd, ISSS. : ' A handsome electro-plate six-bottle cruet-stand and set of gold studs accompanied the address. Mr Dellow replied on behalf of himself and his wife in a very long and feeling speech, anil, after the singing of the Doxology and a few words of kindly regret by various friends, the meeting broke up. The Rev. J. Dellow, who is about to leave the district to take charge of the Greytown district, preached his farewell sermon on Sunday evening last to a very large congregation, the Church being crowded to the doors. The rev. gentleman took his text from 2 Corinthians, XIII and 2nd verse, "Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one min d, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you," and preached a most eloquent and very impressive sermon, to which the congregation listeued with tha greatest attention. During Mr and Mrs Dellow's stay in Uamilton they have made a great many friends, and carry with them the good wishes of all who have come in contact with them. The Rev. Mr Carr, Mr Dellow's successor, will conduct his first service here next Sunday week. TO THR EOITOH. Silt,—ln your Saturday's issue it is stated that :i presentation was made to thfi Rbv. Mr Dellow anil hi-i wife, on behalf of the congregation. I beg to say that it was not so, that it was made by a few of their own personal friends, the majority of the congregation knowing nothing whatever about it, and 1 think it w;>uld have been better for us all to pay our church debts rather than to (jive presentation*.—l am, yours, E. T. Davev.
