The Waikato Times Oβ™, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mr Alkred Bugkland's Weekly RkroiiT. —At the haymarket during the past week oaten sheaves havo ranged from Is Gd tfi Is 'Jil ; meadow hay, Is lid to 2s the cwt; chaff, £3 t<i £4 ; old oats, 2s 3d ; new oats, Is lOd to 2s tliu bushel ; grass seeds and manures at current values. At the hide and skin salo on the Kith instant thero was a smaller muster than usual ; prices were without alteration. At the sale of hides on Tuesday last week's advance was sustained. Heavy ox hides ranged up to sgd ; cows, to A\A ; calfskins, stl the lb ; pelts, from 3d ; woolled skins, 4s Sd each ; wool, from to 7d the lb. At Pokeno on Monday an average supply of cattle sold well. At Dniry on Wednesday a full muster of cattle, principally young stock, were dull of salo; prices were in favour of tho buyer throughout. At Reinuera on Thursday dairy cattle were abundant. Choice animals only were at last week's values; ordinary cows were about 20s each lower values. Store cattle sold freely, particularly young cattle. Fat cattle : In full numbers, kept their advance ; prices for steers ranged from 14s to 17s; cows, 12s to 15s the 1001b. Sheep also sold well. Wethers ranged from 9i to 15s; ewes, 8s to 10s ; lambs, 7s to 12s Gd each. Calves and pigs, in short supply were better worth. Mkssks Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.—llorsefeed, grain, seed, etc. : The market has been moderately active, with little or no alteration in value. Horses : There was an improved demand, and an average supply, and there was a slightly upward tendency in value. There was a good muster at the Durham Yards on Friday, competition was good throughout the sale, and almost without exception lots were cleared. We quote: Hacks, £5 to £14 ; light harness horses, from £{> 15s to £14 7s Gd; draughts, from £7 to £14. Wool, hides, and skins : Siihll supply and brisk demand at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. We quote : Ox hides, 4d to 4£d ; cow, 3d to 3Jd ; skins, Is 10d to 5a each ; tallow, £10 to £12 per ton ; wool, GJd lb. Cattle : The improvement noted the previous week has continued both to number brought forward and the demand. Thero was a good muster at the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday of all descriptions, and there was a spirited demand throughout the sale. Dairy cows, were higher in value than on the previous week, and tho continuous showers had tho effect of enhancing the value of stores. For fat beasts also there was an upward tendency in value. We quote : Dairy cows, from £4 10s to £7 15s ; calves, from 10s to 17s Gd ; dry cows, 30s to 45s ; grown steers, £3 to £3 7s Gd ; fat steers, from £5 to £7 2s 6d ; cows, from £2 12s Gd to £4 10s ; ox beef ranged from 13s to 18s per 1001b; cows, 10a to 14s per 1001b ; veal calves in short BUpply and improved demand. Sheep: Owing to the boisterous weather no shipborne came to hand, and the supply at Newmarket on Tuesday was consequently short, and prices were markedly in favour ot the vendor, 12s Gd having been given for best wethers, and other descriptions were relatively high. Lambs were in moderate number, and eold at from 5s 2d to 9s each. WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mr J. McNicoi- Reports.—On Monday, at the special horse sale at Cambridge, 174 horses were offered, out of which 94 were sold at an average of 9 guineas. CJocd hacks, from £10 to £22 ; inferior, from £2 to £0 ; good draught horses, £10 ; unbroken draughts from Messrs Goodfellow, from £7 to £10. At Ohaupo on Tuesday, small sale, selling about GO ho:ul only. On Wednesday, at Ohaupo, I sold 5,318 sheep out of !),2GB offered. Ewes, 4s Gd to Gs ; lambs, 53 to 5s Gd ; wethers, 8s to 8s 3d ; 2-tooth ewes, 7s 3d to Ss. I have sold privately during the week 90 well-bred heifers ac market value, and some good draught colts at from £7 upwards; 3 hacks at £11 10s, £14, and £17 each. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, March 23rd.— Wheat: Prime, 3s Gd ; flour, quiet roller made, £8 10s ; oats, seeds, 3s ; maize, 3s 5d ; bran, ; Rales of new, Bd. Oats have been affected at 2s 9.W.
