DEATH OF THE HON. JAMES WILLIAMSON, M.L.C.
Thk Hon. James Williamson, M.L.C., whose death has been expected daily fur some weeks, expired at his residence, The Pa, near Onehunga, on Thursday afternoon, after a long and painful illness. Mr Williamson was one of our best-known citizens, and one of the oldest colonists in Now Zealand, and the news of his demise will be received with general regret. The deceased gentleman had very extensive landed property in the Waikato, and was connected with many of the lending commercial and financial institutions of the colony. Ho was a native of lie! fast, and was born in 1814, and was, therefore, at the time of his death, in his 75th year. lie leaves a grown up family of sons and daughters. [by telegraph—own correspondent.] Auckland, Friday. The funeral of the late Hon. James Williamson was largely attended to-day. Flags at various places were displayed halfmast.
