ALEXANDRA.
Destructive Winds.—Tlio Waipa District was visited bv a very severe storm of wind and rain on Friday night last, accompanied by vivid lightninj? and thunder. The wind did immense damage to the fruit trees, in many instances completely stripping the trees of their unripo fruit. Up to the proSent time high winds still prevail, with occasional "bowers. Cuiokkt.—A cricket match was played hero on Saturday last between the Paterangi and Alexandra school boys. Alexandra's first innings closed for a total of 27\ liurus being the highest contributor with 15 runs, Rybum and Munro for Paterangi bowling well. Pateranei in their first innings made -17, and felt pretty certain of winning the match. Alexandra, however, in their second innings were on their mettle, and succeeded in making a total score of 58, of this Douglas Hill contributed 28, the top score of tho match. Paterangi's second innings concluded for a total of 23 runs, Alexandra thus winning the match by 15 runs, Steel and Hill bowling well for the local team.
