Amongst the visitors at Te Aroha just now is Mr W. R. Wilson, a shareholder and one ot the directors of the celebrated Broken Hill mine, who is over here for the benefit of his health. Mr Wilson is a practical miner of many years' experience in different parts of the world, and is second to none as an expert in the treatment of ores and the value of mineral stone. During his stay at Te Aroha, he has made a round of inspection of the various mines in active operation at Waiorongomai, Ttii, Waihi, Sea-, and expresses his opinion that there is an immense scope for developing the mining wealth of those districts on a highly satisfactory scale as soon as the difficulty of reducing the refractory metals has been overcome. This is the one great drawback, which is still being fought with, that retards the complete success of our mines; but it is highly encouraging to find so qualified an authority as.Mr Wilson speaking hopefully and in high praise of the capabilities of the district, [t has always been our opinion that a great future" lays before the Tc Aroha and Paeroa districts, and it is gratifying to find the hopes we have indulged in borne out by the views of a tried and ex. perinced miner like Mr Wilson.
