At the horse salo on Friday, March 9, tho improved tone noted in last week's report continued: Use- I ful horses ranged in price from £8 to £10 10s, and very few remained unsold. At tho hide and skin sale on Tuesday, heavy ox hides brought higher values, one parcel averaging 33s Od each, and hides of all - classes wore better worth ; Prices ranged F for ox hides from 3Jd to sld ; 1 cow hides, 3.Jd to 3:,' d; calfskins, ' 4Jd to isd the lb; tallow, 14s t the cwt; lambskins. Is 8d to 2s 4d : pelts, Is Id to 3s 4:1 each ; lambs' wool, s (ijd to 7id the lb. At Remuera on Thursday the improvement in values noted in last week's report was fully sustained. Dairy cows and store cattle were in moderate number only, and fully maintained last week's valueß. Fat cattle: Abundant; heavy weights of good quality • advanced Is the iOOlb ; medium weight and quality at last week's values; prices for c steer 3 ranged from 14s to 17s the 1001b. j Sheep: In average supply, advanced in. , price ; wethers brought from 2}d to 2Ad tho ( lb; store Lincoln ewes, 7s each, tigs : Plentiful; scarcely realised late values unless of choice quality. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.—Horse feed, grain, seeds, &c,: The supply of grain and burse feed has not i been quite so large as on the previous week, t and more seeds could have been placed, but there was no noteworthy alteration in value. , Horses : Scarcely an average number have ! been brought forward, and generally of an inferior stamp. There was a slight improvement in the demand, and prices had a slightly upward tendency. About the usual number were submitted by auction at the Durham yards on Friday. Competition was steady, and most of tho lots were cleared at a slight advance on the previous I week's values. Wool, hides and skins : Wool continues in steady demand, and there was a brisk demand for good heavy ox hides. We quote: Oxhides, at from 4d to 4;; d ; cow, 2|d to 3M per lb; calf skins, from 4d to 5d per lb; sheep skins, from Is Od to 4s sd. Cattle.—There has been increased animation. Rain has created a demand for stores, and all descriptions of stock were in ( better demand and improved values. There was a good muster in both the Newmarket yards on Tuesday, and the l'ukekolio yards on Wednesday. Competition was good throughout, and a slight advance on the previous week's prices was obtained, the competition being good throughout. Sheep. —The Newmarket yards were well filled on Tuesday. There was an active demand, and a larger number would have found ready purchasers, Wethers sold at from 0s to 12s Od ; ewes, from 7s Od to 10s ; lam>s, from 5s Od each, l'igs: Very scarce.
