Lucy Heard and Mary Moore took tho body by the heels and dragged it into tho street, Jordan with the bloodstained sword in his hand went to the door and commenced preaching. A white woman who was permitted to see the ■' sacrifice," screamed and ran into the street, afterwards informing the police. On Jordan being arrested he offered a determined resistance with his sword, but was eventually overpowered. lie was to be charged with -minler Public feeling ran so high that it was feared an attempt would be made to '"lynch" the prisoner.
