Town Boakd Mkktiw.;.—The ordinary meeting of the Town Board was hold on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs l.)obsiiii (chairman), Frazer, Ilott iiiid (iiivin. Letter from Mr .1. P. Vimse, postmaster, re improvements t<i footpath in Boundary street. The Chairman intimated that arrangements had been completed with the Bank of New Zealand for .in overdraft of 4150. The Clerk reported the decision of the judge of the Assessment Court on the objection niado by the Board to the town district valuation list. Plans and specifications of a number of street improvements were received from the Engineer and approved of, subject to certain .slight alterations. It was resolved that tenders for the works be called for at once, and that they be receivable at the Board's dftice till ii p.m. on Friday, 10th inst. The Chairman and clerk were'deputed to interview the members of the County Council at their meeting in Te Aroha on the loth inst. for the purpose of representing the dangerous state of the. large drain lately formed opposite Clarke's ground on the Waiorongoirrai road; also to obtain permission to carry out improvements to footpaths in Whitaker-street. The same members of the Board were appointed to inspect the obstructions in liewi and Stafford-streets, complained of by K. Mackie, and to report on same at special meetjng on the 10th inst. Accounts as follows were passed for payment : — Brett and Co., £7 Ss ; 11. Crump, £1 Is; H. Brett, 10s : W. Hethcrington, lfis. Arskksmicnt Court.—The Assessment Court for the hearing of objections to the Te Aroha Town District valuations was held in the court-house on Thursday, Mr Stratford, U.M., acting as judge. The only case called was that of the town clerk, who on behalf of the Board objected to thf. list as a whole on the grounds that the values set down were below the actual values. Evidence was called and the objection made by the Board was sustained by the court. Order wasi made by the judge for a new valuation list, and Messrs (J. Wilson and F. Pavitt were appointed valuers. The new list will bo ready for public inspection nn Thursday, March 2:2 nd. Objections must be Judged before 5 p.m. on Monday, April 23rd, and on the following Wednesday, a court will be held to hear objrtQtiona. T Laiwkkv.—An individual named .Tamea Edwards was oharwed by Sergeant Knierson before Messrs Dobson and Ilott, J. 1 ., s, on Thursday, with the larceny of a bridle, the property of the Rev. .las. Marshall. Accused pleaded guilty. Ibe police report respecting him being otherwise unfavourable, ho was sentenced to two month's in Mount Kden Gaol with hard labour. CllA.VfiE OF Wkathrh.—Heavy showers fell hero last iiieht and this morning, ami a strong gale is blowing to-day, (Friday.) The rain was badly wanted, and it will do a large amount of good throughout the district, but more is yet required.
