ROBBERY OF REGISTERED LETTERS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Wem/lvgton, Friday. When the lonic arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday, a discovery was inside by tha postal officials that a bag of registered letters had been tampered with. It was found that sixteen letters had been opened and soma of their contents removed. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police, and enquiries are being made :i3 to whether robbery took place on board ship, or while the mails were in course of transit from the London office to the docks. Must of the letters opened contained bank drafts. Instructions have been sent to different institutions to exercise great c.ire in cashing any documents of this kind made out at home.
