February and, not many cattle were yarded, mi account of fanners Weing busy with harvest, those in sold at fully Ohaupo prices. At Cambridge on Saturday, Februa.iy 4th, the moat sale at Messrs Booth and Roberts' was well attended, and fair prices realised. At the eattlo yards a full number were yarded, (irown cattle were dull ot sale, but young cattle realised good prices. We quote : Yeitrliiiß heifers, lis to 15s, steers, 17s to SO* ; fat heifers, £3 "»<. At the produce and horse sale a good number of horses and usual quantity of produce were brought forward. For the latter there was a good competition, plums solium I'd per lb; sin ill apples Id p.-r Hi; potatoes, 5s tirl per bag. For horse stock there was little tie m.'iivl, but. a t'oi.d number exchanged hands. At Ohaupo on Tuesday, Kebruaiy Ulli, there was again a full muster of cattle, principally yonng cattle, for which there was little demand. Dairy cows were in request, and sold well if close to profit. Young steers are being enquired for, and those in sold well. Beef cattle were generally not of good quality, but sold fairly well. We quote: Dairy cows, £3 to £3 lGs ; one to one and a-half-year old steers, €1 to £1 7s (Id ; yearling heifers, lis to lls ; three-year-old steers, t'3 13s; fresh cows, nearly beef, £2 to £2 His; 2-yr-old steers, £1 10s tc £2 ; fat heifers and cows, £3 to £3 10s. At our annual sheep fair, held after cattle sale, about 3000 sheep were yarded. There was a good attendance of buyers from all parts of Waikato, Pukekohe and Thames, and good competition existed for all classes, especially lambs. In many instances sellers were looking for high prices, but the present low prices ruling for fat sheep in the Auckland market prohibited a rise. With the exception of one or two lots, all sold. We quote: Latnbs (mixed sexes), from 5s 3d to 7s ; merino ewes, 3s<Jd; Romney Marsh ewes, 5s (!d ; half-bred ewes, 4s (id to 5s (id ; fat ewes, Gs 9d to 7s ; fat wethers, 8s (id ; aged rams, lis to 17s each. We have also sold privately since above sale 31 very forward condition steers, from 2 to 5 years old, from £2 17s tid to £1 12s each. Mr McNicol reports.—On Saturday last I had a good number of horses offered, but not many sold and those mostly at low prices. Hacks brought from £2 to £8; drays, at £0 lis and £8 ; pigs, [Is to 10s 6d. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Rbi'OHT. —Horse-feed, (train, etc : There has been very little doing. Lines of oats changed hands at Is lOd per bushel. Supply in excess of requirements. Horses : There has been little change worthy of note, and the supply has been an average one, about the usual number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was not very brisk, still few remained unsold ; although in several instances vendors expected higher values. Wool Hides, and Skins : Increased quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and there was a spirited demand. We quote ox hides at from Id to 4. : |'d per lb ; cows from to SJd ; calfskins from 4id to per lb ; lambskins, Is 119 to 2s Id each ; sheopskins from Is 3d to 4s 4d each. Cattle : There has been an increased supply, and an improved demand, and prices for all descriptions were in favour of the vendors. The Newmarket yards, on Tuesday, were fairly well lilled, as were also Iho Pukekolio yards on Wednesday, Good dairy stocks were a shade higher in I value, but stores were dull of sale, and fat beasts advanced in value from 5s to 10s per head, as compared with the previous week. Sheep : The number yarded at Newmarket ou Tuesday was below the average ; there was no noteworthy alteration in value, although scarcely so high a figure was reached as on the previous week. Lambs : Scarce, and of inferior quality. Figs: A large number were yarded, and were well competed for at from 2d to 3jd per lb live weight. Miwsks Amino Bccki.and a\» Co. ReroilT. —At the Haymarket on Friday last fodder sold freely, prices ranged with quality from 2s to 3s the cwt. (train was at late values ; oats from Is 10.1 to 2s 2d the Imsiiel; chaff somewhat lower than of late, from £.'! 10s to £1 the ton. On Tuesday, hides were pitched in usual nnmhr.r, and in improved demand ; best ox brought 4:, M anil 5(1 ; cows, 3:,' d and 4jjd ; calfskins up to rl the lb; tallow, 12s the cwt. ; sheepskins and pelts fmui Sd to 2s 3d each ; about 20 bales of wool brought for crossbred, (i.Vd ; lambs' wonl, lij'd t<>7d the lb. Atthe horse sale on Friday, February 3rd,a larger number of entries than usual sold fairly well, heavy draughts being the most unsaleable class. At Waiuku, on Saturday last, in addition to the usual supply of cattle, there were several pens of go-id young Lincoln rams, also some choice lambs, and all sold satis- I faet.orily. At the specialde of Mr Lennard's stock there was a numerous attendance ; prices tor irood cows at profit ranged from £4 to £5 each. At the annual sheep fair, held at Remuera on Tuesday, there was a smaller muster of stock than for many years. Buyers were present in full number, and prices, both for ewes and rams, showed a marked improvement in value. At liemuer i, .11 Thursday, dairy and store cattle were at late values ; fat cattle, in full numbers, were lower in prices than last week, from Is to 2s the 100ibs. Sheep maintained their value : lambs were better worth la each. Calves sold briskly, and pigs were scarce. Waikato averages were : A. Bruce Suttor, 7 steers, £5 Us; W. Taylor, 15 steers, £4 10s ; A.
