THE BANKRUPT MONEY-LENDER
[IIY TKriEGII.U'H. — OWN , OORHICSI'ONDENT.J Auckland, Friday. Thk first meeting of the creditors in the Bankrupt estate of Lewis Moses, money lender, was held to-day at the office of the Official Assignee. Mr Cooper was present on behalf of the debtor, and Mr Oiiphaut for Mr McOaul, one of his creditors. The sworn statement of the debtor was read, and Mr Moses was then placed nsi oath, and examined by Mr Oliph int. A claim was put in by A. Mosley, the debtor's br ithnr-in 1-iw for the amount of £(iOO 12-i 4d, lout some years back, but the tiook in which the transaction is recorded has been mislaid. Mrs Isaac-! (debtor's sister) put in a claim for £1,052 10s, and this was also recorded in the missing book. The debtor stated that several sums of money, ranging from £40 to £100, had been deposited with him to lay out at interest. Three parties hail deposited money in December last, and the sums were entered in his books, The debtor was instructed to produce particulars of some bills of sale which he held, and the meeting adjourned until Wednesday next.
