BATHING IN THE LAKE.
TO TUB KDITOIt. Silt,-I observed that you very properly drew attention in a late issue of your valuable paper to what, if not immediately dealt with, bids fair to become an intolerable nuisance. 1 allude, bit', to the bathing in the lake. So much has been done within the last few weeks to popularise our beautiful domain water as a pleasant resort that it would be a thousand pities if a larger portion of the community were prevented troin walking in its neighbourhood by the offence oecassioned by a few thoughtless, but water-loving youths. I would suggest th.u the Domain Board put up a notice near the jetty, prohibiting bathing between the hours of 'J a.m. and li p.m. Though thoroughly in sympathy wiLli swimmers, 1 should be sorry if the selfishness of some few votaries of the art interfered with the enjoyment of the general public. 1 am, Sir, yours, J Bur A. Hamilton, February Bth, 1888.
