KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD

The usual monthly meeting of the Kirikiriroa Koad Board was held yesterday afternoon in the Council Chambers, Hamilton East, when Messrs Primrose (chairman), H. Steele, C. McLean and W. H. M. Lovell were present. The Clerk reported that Mr W, W. Powell bad been elected a member of the Board in the room of Mr G. F. Thomas, and Mr Powell took his seat at the board. The correspondence incoming and outgoing was read, the Government writing to say that after the present year no rates would be paid on Native and Crown Lands by the Government. The Clerk stated that this evidently meant that the Ministry meant to bring in the Bill to this effect next session as it was not yet law. The Chairman explained to the Board the position of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and the amount of rate that would have to be paid for the current year. After hearing the explanation, the members expressed themselves satisfied, although the rate would for this year be exceptionally heavy. Accounts to the amount of £35 were passed for payment.
