Tub Libuahy; Annual Mebtixo. The annual meeting of subscribers of the Tβ Awaumtu Public Library was held in the library on tin; evening of 23rd ilist, about the nstwl number being present. The Rev. J.J. Mother Chairman of Committee, was in the chair. The annual report, Statement of accounts, and balance sheet were read and adopted. Tho annual report showed that 20 persons had subscribed im- j the year and 8 for parr, of f,hn year. Th" j balance sheet showed that tho receipts for the year including credit balance from 1830 £-15 10s (id ; expenditure, £33 3s U;l ; £12'Gs 9d. Tliere are 700 books in the library. Leaving balance in hand to start this year, The Chairman expressed his opinion that it was a pity so few of the residents of a large district availed themselves of tho privelego of the institution, its object being to supply useful literature. He hoped the current year would prove a success, and that a suitable reading room would be established, where the young man of tho neighbourhood could assemble of an evening. Trustees for the current year were elected as follows:—Messrs Andrew, Curio v, Cox, Cunningham, Ford and Tea«lale; auditors, Messrs J. Walton and S. Westney. Mr Carlcy was appointed secretary and treasurer and librarian. Subscriptions for tho current year: 10s annually, us half-yearly, 2s Gd quarterly, 10d monthly. The. library is open for the issue of books on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from -1 p.m. to 5 p in., and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., iind on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Siibsuriptions aro to be paid in advance. Poliok COURT. —John Cuddy, for being drunk and disordedly and resisting the police while in execution of their duty, wan fined £2 and costs 7s, in default one month imprisonment. The prisoner not having any money had to take the month. Mr J. Ji. Mandcno was the prcskliug justice.
