A GOOD SAMARITAN.
Aptek the business of the Elinburgh City L'olioe Court was coueluded one Monday morning, a loud knock was heard at the (loot , of the room in which those persons were confined who were convicted of been drunk and incapable. The door was opened by the turnkey, and a strange gentleman walked in, who asked how many drunk and incapable persons were detained. On being told there were seven he paid the tines of each of them and asked to see them They were liberated, and on going outside were taken by the stranger to an adjacent dining establishment, where he gave them seveu substantial breakfasts afterwards presenting the astonished and grateful persons with one shillinsr each. This done, he stood a little apart and after a pause exclaimed in measured tones "Even as Christ sent not his disciples away empty handed, neither do 1 with you. Go your ways and sin no more." The mysterious stranger then departed and was not seen again—Edinburgh Evening News.
