Messrs Wsr. Lvrlis & Son Report for the week ending December 10th, 18S7 : —
Fat Cattle. —Nearly 2000 have boon yarded at Hotnebush during the week in nearly equal proportions upon each sale day. On Monday 954 wore yarded, and tho market prices unaltered. The principal sales were 1(13 bullocks from Turanville at £G 19s lOd; 110 bullocks from Brewarrina at .€5 10s; 117 bullocks from Cliffdale at 155 19s 7d ; and 225 bullocks fit ,£(i 5s 3d from Queensland. To-day (Thursday) 928 were yarded ; there was a larga attendance of buyers, causing a firmer tone in tho market for prime, but middling and inferior were still very dull of sale. The highest average was £7 10s 5(1 for a draft of (JO bullocks from Tongy. The other principal sides were 112 bullocks from Dallam Towers, £0 2s 7d; 80 bullocks from Bourke, £0 17s; and 3' > head bullocks and cows from Nocatunga, averaging £(! 13s and £-1 18s 9d respectively. Our fat and dry cattle sale at Sydney yards this afternoon was attended by a large number of buyers, but biddings Were less brisk than usual. Wo quote— Best beef 17s per lOOlbs. Fair lis „ Middling 12 s ~ Shkkp.—ls,ooo were yarded at Homebush on Monday, and 11,500 to-day. The supplies were in exccss of requirements, and sales characterised by excessive dullness on both occasions, to-day was about the worst market known for months past, price" about Is (id per head lower than la ;t woek,_ and Leveral lots having to bn passed. Principal sales wore IGCD wethers from Combogolong at 7s 4d ; 1900 wothers from Wnlballow, 7s 5d to 8s ; 1000 wethers from Pulpulla, 5s 8d to (is 2d ; and 170 D wethers from Pomigalarna, 7s Sd. Mir.cn Cow.-!.— I The number in to-day was larger than usual, being increased by additional senders, and included a fair proportion of first-cla is cows. There was an excellent attendance of tho trade and private buyers, but except for tho host ones biddings were spiritless, and though we sold out all those forward low rates had to bo submitted to. We quote— Best cows ... ... £8 to £10 10s Good ditto £•') 10< to £7 10s Others from.C-1 10s up Calvks. —The liumbar sent in this week was very large, tho greatest number that have been forwarded in one week for a considerable time, and prices, except for firstclass ones, gavo way in consequence (of the heavy supply. Wo quote— Large and prime ... -10s to 55s Medium 30s to 35s Small ... ... ... 10s (3d to 25.s L vJUiS. —A very large number of lambs were down at Homebush this week, and arrivals at Sydney were also above the ave rage. The se causes, combined with the low rates l.iling for sheep, make tho market slightly lower. Tho market improved subsequently, and at our sale this afternoon biddings were very brisk, and all forward cleared at satisfactory prices.
