At Cambridge on Saturday last I had a largo number of horses ottered, and of u superior class. Kid a good attendance of buyers and freo bidding, putting through 22 at an average of £8 Ss. L have sold pnvatoly during tho week 3512 sheep at good figures. AUCKLAND LIVK STOCK MARKETS. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Retort.— Horse feed, grain, So. : Hut little lias been done; the quantity, although not large, lias been ample. We quote : feed oats 2s .id per bushel ; bran, 4s (id per 1001b ; sharps £4 10s per ton; oaten chaff, £-1 per ton. Horses : A good many have been brought forward and changed hands at an increase on the previous week's values. The Durham Yards wore well filled on Friday, bidding was brisk throughout the sale, and almost without exception lots were domed at from 10a to 20s each advance. We quote : Hacks, at from £3 10s to £10 10s; light harness horses at from £0 10s to £11. Wool, hides and skins : A limited quantity was pitched at tho Durham Yards on Tuesday. We quote : < >x hides, from 3d to 4VI per lb ; cow, 3d to 3VI ; calf, 4 : ,' dtosd ; sheepskins, from 23 to 5s (id. Cattle : There has been a good doal of animation in the market, and a large number changed hands, but prices were scarcely so high as on tbe previous week. The Newmarket Yards were fairly filled on Tuesday, and at the Pukekoho Yards on ] Wednesday there was a large muster. Dairy and'store stock were a shade higher in valua, but there was no noteworthy change in the value of fat boasts. Sheep were in average number at Newmarket on Tuesday, but a large number would have found purchasers at a slight advance on the previous week's values, Limbs were m adequate numbers, and sold at from (is Oo to9s Gd. Tigs: Scarce, and there remained an unsatisfied demand. Mr Alfred Buckland's Weekly 11kI>ORT.—At the Haymarkol during the past week sales of grain for con-umption have considerably increased. Trices for oats range with quality from Is lid to 2s 3 1: maize, 3s Od to 3s Od the bushel ; chaff, £3 10s to £4 5s the ton ; loose fodder, plentiful, prices ranged from Is (id to 3s 3d the cwt delivered. Horse stock on Friday last were yarded in full numbers, and met with a better demand than for many weeks; prices for active horses were from £S to £13; and a bugcy £12. At the sales of hides and skins on Tuesday, 10th inst., late values were sustained. Ordinary ox hides brought 4i ; cows, 3 J f d the lb ; sheepskins. Is 3d to 4s 4d ; pelts, 7d to Is Id ; lambskins, Is oa to la 8d each. At the won! sales held on Wednesday, 107 bales were sold. Prices wore firm, and on liner qualities a slight advance in price was obtained. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cattle were m less than usual number, and without alteration in value. Store cattle, in moderate supply, were slightly better worth ; lat cattle, in full numbers, maintained last week's values, steers being steady at 15s the 1001b; calves, abundant, were relatively low in price. Store sheep sold at high re lative values, and fat sheep, in full numbers, advanced about (id each on last «v«k s prices; lambs were at last week's rates ; and pigs, in good demand throughout the sale, at full values. SYDNEY STOCK REPORT. Messrs Wm. Ink lis & Son Retort.— Fat cattle: Inconsequence of the holidays only one sale has been held during the week on (Thursday), when 85S head were yarded at Homebush—embracing all qualities. There was a, very large attendance of buyers, owing in some measure to there not being another sale until Thursday next, January sth, 1838. The market was much brisker, and a rise of from 15s to 20s per head resulted. The highest average was £7 10s 3d for a small draft of bullocks from Wallendbeen. At our sale of fat and dry cattle at Sydney yards thisj afternoon's sales were brisker, and a rise took place. We quotebest beef, 19s per 100 lbs ; fair, 17s ; middling, 15s. Sheep : To-day (Thursday) 7000 were penned at Homebusli, this was a very small number for one week's supply, especially with no other sale till the following Thursday, and prices improved from Is to Is (id per head. Best wethers, tl.-. Gd to 10s 6d ; good ditto, 7s Od to Ss Od; othors from 43 up. And ewes in proportion. Milch cows: Both in the Christmas week and to-day a largo number were forward ; the attendance was very good, including a number of country buyers, and we were enabled to clear all forward at full rates, though there was no material improvement in prices. We quote—best cows, £8 to £11 10s ; good ditto, £fi 10s to £7 10 ; others from £4 10s up. We wish to draw the special attention of buyers to our large and important sale of 550 head of first class dairy cattle at Picton. on Saturday, .'January 14th, on account of C. Dunn, Esq., particulars of which are advertised in the Sydney and Country Newspapers. Pigs : A very heavy supply from all parts came in for the Christmas sales. This week the number both per rail and coast was smaller than usual. On both occasions prices hold up well, and we sold nearly 1000 in the fortnight at satisfactory figures.
