<+ R.M. Court.—Tho R.M. Court sat on Tuesday, Mr H. A. Stratford presiding, but the business was light and unimportant. Most of the cases were adjourned to the next sitting of the court, on February 2nd. W-\kdbx\s Couut.—Judgement for arrears of rent was obtained by the Mining Inspector in the following cases :— E. Healy, amount due £2, costs 13s. Te Aroha Public Hall Company £5, costs lis. The following applications were granted E. Cameron, for exchange of licensed holding at Tui Creek ; John Abbott, for protection till March 20th, ISBB, of special claim No. 2, water race and machine site, all situated at Waiorongomai; W, Beresford, for residence site No. 114, Lipsey's block, Te Aroha. School Committer.— I The monthly meeting of the School Committee, postponed from the 3rd inst. was held last night. Present : Rev. J. Marshall (chairman) Ilott, Lavery, Dobson and Far re 11. The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were confirmed, and circulars were read from the Board of Education relative to the election of three members of the Board and other matters. A draft of the annual report of the chairman to the Board of Education was read and adopted, also the statement of accounts submitted by the secretary. The following is an abstract of the accounts for the year ending 31st December JBS7 Receipts : Balance from previous year, lOd ; allowance from Board of Education, £2o ; receipts from other sources, £4. Total, £29 lOd. Expenditure: Cleaning, £15 6s 3d ; fuel, £3 13s; repairs to school building, &c., £7 5s lid; books, maps, &c,, l!)s; Planting, £1 8d ; sundries, os. Total, £29 10d. The passing of one or two small accounts concluded the business. School Concert.—Ths financial result of the entertainment given by the school children on December 23rd has been very satisfactory. After paying all the expenses of the school feast on January 2nd, and of the costs connected with the performance in the hall, there remains in hand a balance of £113s, and this will be added to the school library fund. Ixsi'F.c'roii of Minks.—Mr H. Gordon Government Inspector of Alines, is at pre. sent here on his annual visit of inspection. He will leave here to-morrow for Karangahako, and the other fields further north. Waitoa.—Operations for a further trial 1 , of Mr J. B. Smith's property, at Waitoa, will very shortly be resumed by the Christchurch Company. Mr Percy Cox has ar rived from Canterbury, and will remain while the work is being carried on. Arrangements have been made between Mr Smith and the company, which are mutually satisfactory.
