School Picnic—The Annual picnic of the Ngahiuepouri School children took place at the schoolroom on Wednesday the -Itl). The weather being most propitious, all that could be desired, both parents and children turned out in goodly numbers to enjoy th.emselve3. Prizes were awarded according 'to merit by their respected teacher Mr Black'ett and presented to the scholars by JJr Liviugstone, chairman of committee, after which all adjourned to partake of refreshments to make the hearts of the children rejoice so abundantly supplied by the ladies. After full justice being done to the good things! provided, an excellent programme of sports was then begun. Cricket, races and other ont-door sports, and gamesgenerally indulged in at thisseason of tne year. A most enjoyable afternoon was passed every one present being well satisfied that they had passed oue of the most pleasant and s;;ci:ib!c gatherings they had been at for a long time. As evening approached and music was heard those that enjoyed the light fantastic were Bi;en wending their way to'the schoolroom when dancing was kept up until the sun was above the horizon, when all went to their respective homes well satisfied with their fating.—(A.
