It is proposed to form a Company, to be called the Te Aroha Prospecting Company, with limited liability, having a capital of £30,000 in shares of £1 each, 20,000 shares to be offered to the public, and 10,000 to be reserved for the benefit of the Company ; one penny per share to be paid on application, twopence per share on allotment, and the balance in calls of not more than one penny each, as required; at least one month to intervene between each call. The objects of the Company are—To thoroughly prospect the Te Aroha Goldfield, by driving a tunnel through the hill, from a point on its western face, towards the New Find goldmine, and until it arrives iu ground owned by existing companies or individuals. When any reef is cut showing gold or other minerals, if found payable it shall cither be let on tribute or worked by the Company, as may be deemed most advisable. The exact point near the Old Morning Star mine, at which tht tunnel shall commence, to be determined by the best local mining experts and prospectors; and shall as near as possible cut the reefs at right angles, in order to achieve the best results at the least possible cost, Gold and other minerals are known to exist on the western face of the hill; trials of several tons having been made from the locality of the intended tunnel, with results as high as fifteen penny weights to the ton with the ordinary stamper battery. It is a well-known fact, that a large amount of capital has been expended in mere surface prospecting ; a small proportion of which sum expended in such a systematic manner as that now proposed, would have undoubtedly demonstrated the value of the reefs. It is confidently expected that both the Government of the colony and the PiaUo County Council will subsidise the uudertaking. 7,000 Shares have been already subscribed in Te Aroha. The following gentlemen have been appointed Provisional Directors, to organise the Company and ascertain the amount of support likely to be accorded it. When this is accomplished they will call a meeting of the Shareholders to elect a Board of Directors to carry out the undertaking, viz., MR P. PAVITT, Chairman. MR JAMES MILLS, Secretary. MR D. BRIG HAM. MRR. BLKNCOWE. MR D. J. FRAZER. All applications to be sent to Mr James Mills, Secretary, Te Aroha, not later than the 14th day of January, ISSB. The shares will immediately be allotted by the Directors, and should any applicant not receive the number applied for, the balance of his application fee will be returned.
