The French Press criticise the New Hebrides agreement with hostility, and urge the exclusive possession of the group by France. The Standard, on the same subject, says it closely concerns .French honour not to further evade evacuation on the pretence that the Suez Canal Convention had not been ratified by the Powers. Paris, January 4. A Yellow Book has been issued, which states that the Marquis of Salisbury proposed in March last that the New Hebrides and Suez Canal questions should be considered conjointly, and it appears that the French Government have been constantly urging a settlement of both questions.
