SUDDEN DEATH AT NGARUAWAHIA.
Just as the picnic parties wore taking their departure from the charming little tovM«hiji on the Xgaruawahia delta, where they had spent a jay full of lighthearted pleasures on the rivers and on the bush-clad hills, the ruthless hand of Death brought sudden sorrow and desolation to the household of a well-known resident. At about 7 o'clock in the evening Mrs Simmelhag, the wife of the popular host of the Delta Hotel, was struck down by an apoleptic fit, from which sho very shortly expired. Dr. Murch, who was with one of the picnic parties, had already returned to Hamilton. Mr W. Von Sturiner, also a picnicer, however sped away on horse back for him, but the doctor's services were, of course, unavailing. The deceased lady, who was much respected, had, we believe, suffered from attacks. Great sympathy is felt for Mr Simmelhaf, and the family in their bereavement. There was not any covonial enquiry. Mrs Simmelhag was the widow of Captain Marsh of the 12th Regiment, by whom she had a grown up family. She formerly owned the Provincial Hotel in Auckland. Shu leaves an only son by her second husband. The funeral took place yesterday, and was largely attended.
