Merry-making at Te Rore.
A very enjoyable picnic was held on Wednesday last in Mr McKinnon's paddock. All the youth and beauty for some distance around were present. Tiie usual mysterious games of "teague," " ring-a-ring a rosey," &c., were induled in by the young people to their great delectation. I missed the jolly old English game of " Kiss-in-the-ring " though ! (the only one worth playing really.) Races were got up for the younger members, and everything was done by the promoters to make it as pleasant as possible. The committee were in hopes that as Admiral Fairfax had not been present at the races he might turn up here. He didn't, however. I am sorry for him, as he missed a capital day's sport. The inevitable dance carried the day well into tho next, aboiit 40 couples indulging in that most delightful exercise, under the direction of our very efficient M.0., Mr Richdale, to tho music of Mr Sibley's excellent band, the Terpsichorians only giving in when daylight appeared. Vivat Regina!
