A CHAPTER OF FATALITIES.
Mary Burke was drowned at Woodhill, near Hcllensville, on Tuesday. William Routley, a farmer of Pukekoho, was found dead in his stable on Christmas Day. J. Rotliery, a youth of 19, was drowned in Lake Ellesmere, Canterbury, on Tuesday. Mr George Adams, of the Hansard Staff, Wellington, fell over a steep bank, and received a concussion of the spinal oord, and has since died. John Pringle, aged 2G, died suddenly on Sunday night at Otopopo, near Oainarn. Jeremiah J. Hunter was killed whilst falling a tree at Stratford on Saturday. A man named Johnson was killed on Tuesday by his dray passing over him. Mr F. Rawlings, overseer of Christchurch Road Board, had his legs broken by a slip of earth on Tuesday, and died in the hospital. A boy eight years old, son of Mr Cranley, of Invercargill, accidently swallowed an air bladder, which filled out in his throat and choked him to death.
