[I!V TELEGRAPH.—OWN’ CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Alonday. Tna North Shore Ferry Company have reduced the price of their weekly season tickets to Is, or (id for ladies. Tiiis is the latest result of the competioii between the two companies. At a meeting of the Brokers Association and the Chamber of Commerce it was decided to send the following telegram to Mr Peacock Committee representing commercial and mining interests Auckland expresses strong dissatisfaction that no sum has been placed on the Estimates for northern goldfields, while £21,000 has been voted for southern goldfields. They think an equal liberal subsidy should have been voted for north. This requires immediate attention. (Signed) A. H. Nathan.’’ In an interview with Admiral Fairfax he stated he was delighted with Auckland, and would like to stay here, but must go to Wellington and Sydney for the Centennial exhibition. Then he would return to Auckland and open the Calliope dock and put tho ship Calliope into it. The Admiral denied the rumour that the men of tluNelson were unruly, saying she is the best ship in tbe service. There is no intention at all to take the men away dining the Christmas holidays.
