From our cable news it will be seen that New Zealand four per cent, debentures have advanced considerably, being now quoted at £96 10s. This may be construed as a sign of returning confidence in our securities on the part of British investors, who have probably made themselves acquainted witli the retrenchment policy being pursued by the Government in obedience to the desire of the country. Should the reverse of Tuesday night, when telegraphed to London, be looked upon as a presage of the defeat of the Ministry, and of other political complications, it may have the effect of again causing a fall in New Zealand stock.
