The vestibule of the Palace of tho Luxembourg had been transformed into a Chapelle ardente, profusely adorned with flowers, flags and evergreens. Unfortunately, the deceased General had overestimated his strength in accepting that task, for he returned in suffering health, and his services to tho country were destined to be ere long cut short.
