Pakthenopakiis, a dark bay, is a splendid specimen of the thoroughbred horse, uniting in a remarkable degree symmetry with strength, being admiraoly adapted to get weight-carrying hacks as well as racehorses. Possessing the celebrated Traducer blood of his sire, and from his dam the blood of the still more celebrated Sir Hercules, he presents a combination of the most fashionable and successful strains in the Southern Hemisphere. Parthenopaeus, by the celebrated Tradneer, out of Atalanta. Atalanta by Towton out of Crescent, by Sir Hercules out of Moth by Camel. Towton—own brother to The Peer—by Melbourne, out of Cinizelli, by Touchstone by Camel. Atalanta has been one of the most successful performers on the New Zealand turf. At four years old won the Oamaru J.C. Handicap and ran second to Glengarry in the Dunedin J.C. Handi cap ; at five years won the Free Handicap at Christchurch; at Timaru won South Canterbury J.C. Entries for all handicaps must be sent in to the Secretary not later than Monday, the 12th December, with entrance fees. They must be accompanied by performances on pain of disqualification. No entries will be received except on the condition that all claims, disputes and objections shall bo decided by the committee, such decision to bo final. All protests must bo accompanied by the sum of ton shillings, which shall bo forfeited to the funds if the protest be not sustained. The winner of any handicap over the value of £5 after the declaration of the starts may bo re-handicapped for one or all of the three distances for the Cup. In all races any competitor leaving the mark before the. pistol goes off to be penalised and put back in 100 yds. and 120 yds., 1 yard ; 200 yds. and 250 yds., 2 yards; TJOyds,, 5 yards; 508 yds,, 7 yards; A-mile, 10 yards; 1 niile, 20 yards. Any competitor making three false starts will be disqualified. No qualification or acceptance fee for any race.
