Ax extraordinary meeting of the Library Oommilt-’.c was held last evening to receive the resignation of Mr I'Tench, who Ims been acting as hnn. secretary to the, committee. Present: Messrs Trench, Tippeo, 1). Salmon, \V. Balloon, Scott, Parr, Quick and Pannell. Mr .French regretted that, as he was leaving the district, ho would bo obliged to resign the position of secretary. In accepting his resignation the. Chairman (Mr Parr) paid a high tribute to Mr French, and a unanimous ami hearty vote of thanks was passed to him for his services.
Mr J. (1. Pannell was elected to fill the position vacated by Mr French. Mr Parr was requested to thank Mr Banigh for his handsome present of Lecky'a “ History of European Morals” (2 vols.) It was decided to give an entertainment at an early date in aid of the library fund. A special meeting is called for Monday evening next, 21st lust., at S o’clock.
