The deputation from the Farmer's Conference, which waited on the Premier 3’esterday, asked that a duty of 25 per cent, he imposed on all stock imported into the colony; ds upon imported barley, wheat, oats, peas and maize : it I per ton on potatoes : and 4d per lb on butler, cheese and liam. Mr Gillies, in promising to lay the views of the conference before his colleagues, added that the Goveruuient had already promised to submit to Parliament uext se&siwjj a proposal for the revision of the existing tariff, by which the interests of the farmers would receive serious consideration.
