It was necessary, .Signor Crispi added, for Italy to avenge her honour in Abyssinia.and he was, therefore, ready to open negotiations for the settlement of the dilliculty.
[mtss association.] London. UJoh.-i- At. Signor Crispi, in his speech at Turin, deprecated the rumours which have gained currency lha. Italy was hostile to France. IT contended that the. alliance of the three countries who were in accord with England was not meant as a menace to the other Powers. Th alliance, he hoped, would tend fo develop the autonomy of (he Balkm provinces, and would guarantee tin unimpaired liberty of the Church of Rome. He therefore claimed that they should be treated with respect iu return.
