Cheese Factory : Mrkti.vo of Suppliers an' o JlniEcroßS,— The adjourned meeting which was well attended was held in the hall on Monday evening. Mr J. W. Bridgman, chairman of directors in the chair. 'L’ho chairman stated that the directors were not prepared to undertake the responsibility of working the factory for the coming season, on the same terms as formerly. Their idea was that the suppliers should become responsible for their own advances. The directors were willing to continue the management on those terms, or the suppliers could elect managers for tho season if they choose. It was pointed out that it was very probable that cheese would bo in demand tills season, as most of the factories wore to make butter, anfj tips would be one of the few making cheese, consormontly it was reasonable to expect that it would bring a higher price, and the directors would most likely be better ableto carry on tho business of the company for the following year. If tho suppliers parried on the factory, and the returns on the cheese, after paying working expenses and interest on mortgage, amounted to more than 3W, the directors would claim all above that amount on behalf of the company which would go towards recouping tho depreciation on plant and buildings, and also pay for interest on the overdraft. To test the feeling of tho meeting, Mr Hunt moved that the proposals of the directors be accepted. Seconded by Mr J. H. Mandeno and carried. The piga on hand as well aa rennett, salt &0., would be taken over at a valuation by the suppliers and that amount would be deducted from the value of the qboese. Qn the chairman requesting al] those vvl)o did not intend supplying milk during the poming season to hold up their hands only three wore held up in response. MrJ. H. Mandeno proposed that a committee of two consisting of Messrs Jv, Cunningham and R. Bosanko be appointed to confer with the directors and draw up an agreement, value what is to be ’taken over, ( and represent suppliers at directors’ 'meetings. Seconded by Ms J. Gibson and earned. It was decided that operations be commenced on Ist November. Tho milk of IfO cows was guaranteed by those present. Owing to the glut of oheu-o in the market twenty tons of last season’s make are still on hand, but as it is of the very best quality, when tho market hardens there should be no difficulty in getting rid of it. ft lias been stated on good authority that no d)eese,-makef in any of the factories makes cheese of such' uniform quality throughout tho year as Mr Baimatyna, and in view of the fact more butter and less cheese will bo made next season, the suppliers should in their own interests, keep tho factory going, Besides the cheese there is about half a ton of ppime bacon on hand, about three tons having been sold.-

TUB (ioi.u Chazh.—The gold fever has, in a modified form, extended to this district. Tour soaled bags of stuff were sent from here by train yesterday (Monday), for treatment. Boring has been carried on at Te Kahn, and the same stuff has been sent for analysis. Mr Aubin has a nugget of very pure gold, about half an ounce in weight, water-worn, which l).o fconght from two old natives, many years ago, in a, lexandra. They said they got it up the country,’ but refused to tell the. locality. The gold craze will at any rate have one good effect, for the whole of the country will be well prospected, and if there is any gold in it, it will lie found.
