Sandes, Engineer, reported that this work would cost about EHOO ; and also that about chains of the road near the school, although formed and fenced, had not been surveyed, and therefore could not bo taken under the Public Works Act, lie asked if the Matamata road was to be continued through the ranges, ami also reported that the main road, Oxford to Cambridge, required ini mediate, attention. —Cr. Lrmiskill proposed, and Cr. Smith seconded, that the road be continued to tho Horton corner post, —Carried. CA.MimmoK Oxi-'oku Road.—A discussion ensued as to whether this road was a county road or not. Proposed hy Cr, Chopmell, and seconded by Cr. Lrnnskill, “That the matter bo referred to the Covermnent. "—-Carried. Matamata Roah.—The Engineer, Mr Pavitt, reported this road in a satisfactory state. The main road requires repairs, as it is dangerous in some parts, and he asked that a man lie put on for a, week.—Tho request was granted. Smith moved that before any repairs be done, the Engineer ho in-tnicted to ohtain more information as to tho origin of the lire, and report more fully at the next ni"eting.---Seconded by Cr. Hrnn.skill and carried.—l'r. Murphy said that the Cordon settlers wore raising money amongst themselves to spend mi the road, and wished plan-to lie prepared by the Engineer, and submitted to the Covernmciit for approval.
