Seconded by Mr Ohcpmoli and can led. The Chairman in his report on the Charitable Aid stated that there were 40 persons receiving relief from the Board at a cost of £lj 3s !)d per week. ' In the ease of Mr Skinner, a miner at Huntly, the secretary was directed to take proceedings, through the solicitor, to recover fees paid in April last, to the Auckland Hospital Board, and it was resolved that in future, after reasonable notice had been given to defaulters as regards fees, proceedings be taken for the recovery of the same. At present there is about £7O to be collected for hospital fees. Accounts to the amount of £133 9a were passed for payment. The Secretary was directed to write to all contractors on the railway, requesting them to Mibscrifiß to the Hospital funds. The Chairman gave notice of motions for next sitting, which is the last of the present Board:—(1.) That the Board' decides that the present Hospital site, is the best for a pennaiuMil Hospital for the district of Waikato, mid takes the necessary steps to complete the purchase of the same. (2.) That the Board respectfully urges upon the (iiivnrnmciit the necessity for inserting in all railway and oilier contract works a clause to compel contractors to pro. vide for an accident fund in order to secure greater safety for the workmen employed upon the works, and to proside the means for paying the cost of Hospital treatment in cases of accident or sickness.
