- Meeting of Wesleyan Quarterly Circuit —The quarterly meeting of the Cambridge circuit was held on September 30th at the residence nI Mr Joseph Cane, Pukeriinn, the Rev. J. Rishworth presiding. On the balance-sheet being presented there was a deficiency of £7 for the quarter. The Chairman stated it was his intention not to accept the invitation to remain another year. It was therefore resolved that an invitation be sent to the Rev. C. H. Curland, of Auckland, to succeed the present minister. A proposition to amalgamate the three Waikato circuits was considered, and a resolution was passed to strongly oppose such an amalgamation, A lengthy discussion took place re the severance of New Zealand from the Australian Conference, when four voted against it and three for it, the remainder abstaining from voting. It was resolved that a special effort to liquidate the existing debt be made during the first week in December by a sale of work and concert. Native Lands Court.—The Native Lands Oonrt was opened at Cambridge on Wednesday, and after deciding a few succession cases closed yesterday at 2.30 p.m. Judge Pnckey presided and bis son was clerk and interpreter. Cricket.— A cricket match, Married v. Single, will he played at Cambridge on Saturday. Sheer-worrying.— Mr John Arnold had a number of sheep worried at his farm, on the Hamilton road, during Tuesday night. Report says that the number is HQ, apd that the dogs were .traced to Mr James Taylor’s, but we have not been able to obtain fuller particulars in time for this issue. Bachelors’ Party.—A very successful dance was held in Mr Forrest’s barn at Gwynnolands last evening, about fiO couples attending. It was given by some of the Cambridge bachelors.
