MR MAXWELL'S CONSISTENCY.
TO THE K.lllTOlt. Sin,—Mr Maxwell, who pnises as a work-ing-man's candidate, claims to be patriiitic and ci nsistent. Me declares himself tn be a staunch supporter of the present Govorninent. Now, two days before he offered himself as a Ministerial candidate, lie, at a public dining-table in Mr Tanners board-mg-housc at To K'uiti, declared Sir Julius Vogel was a political adventurer on crutches. Sir Robert Stout, he. said, was ■simply mining New Zealand, lie spoke of the Honourable Mr Tole in a wantonly vindictive manner. Mr Ballance also was described by him as a visionary faddist, and ho generally condemned the present Ministry as corrupt and evil. In the face of these facts, which can be easily proved, I ask the electors of Waipa to appraise Mr Maxwell at his true value, as to whether his mission in life is blacksmithing or electioneering.—l am, &c., Ki.KCTOa. To Kuiti, September 1 Ith, IRB7.
