SYDNEY STOCK REPORT.
Messrs Wm. Ixulis & Sox Hei-ort for the week ending Sept, !lth, bSS? : Fat Cattle. —770 were yarded at Homebush on Monday, principally of medium and inferior quality; for such rates remained unaltered, but prime were firm, with a slight improvement in prices. A large lot of 253 bullocks and cows from '.Queensland averaged £7 7-s 10d and £5 Is 3d respectively, and a draft of 150 bullocks from Pincefield, £7 10 sd. To-day {Thursday) the supply was much smaller than usual, only 571> being yarded ; the market was much brisker all through, with a rise in prices of from 10s to 20s |ier head. A draft of 07 bullocks from Thargomindah averaged £S 11s, and another lot of 117 per steamer from (Queensland, £(i tv, ilj. At our Sydney yards fat and dry cattle sale this afternoon buyers were numerous and prices brisk, and the dead meat market at Darling Harbour improved considerably as the week progressed. We quote—
Best beef 20 s per lOOlbs. Fair 17s Middling 1.7s ~ .Sheep.—A veryjihort supply was down on Monday, only 4|oo being yarded, and prices were higher. To-day 14,!»30 were penned, but the improvement was fully maintained. A small lot of cross-bred wethers sold by us from Gundaroo made the highest prices got at Homebnsh for a long time past, the tops reaching L'so. Principal large sales of the week were IfiOO wethers from Xarandoo, Ss to 10 Id ; 1.700 wethers from Trangie, 11s to 115.7 d; and 1100 ewes from Marabone, !)s Id to fid. We quote— Best Merino Wethers ... Ids to Us fid Good ditto Ps tol Is Others from 7s up. Mn.cn Cows.—The number in at our yards to-day was the largest to hand for sometime past, there being several fresh senders in the market. There was a very good attendance of buyers at our yards, and, considering the extra number in, the sale was a satisfactory one. We quote Best cows £lO to £l3 Good £'7 10s to £y Others from £4 los up.
Calves.—A moderate supply to band, but only a few of prime quality which were very scarce and dear. We recommend constituents to take advantage of the present market, as anything gndis sure to sell well. We quote— Large and prime 40s to (Jos Medium 30s to 37s .Small 1.7s to -Jos
Lam ns. There was only a smali number forward and prices high for good ones. We recommend any such being sent for next Thursday. We. quote
Best 10s fid to 13s Others ... ... ... from .7> up. Pins.—A moderate number were forward and the market fairly brisk, a Melbourne buyer for large fat pigs making that description sell better. We quote Heavy 2?. d to 31d per IV. Medium -Id to 4'. „ Light nd to old „ Store pigs 11s fid to 23s each
