There has existed a good demand for fend of all lie-criptions. Horses; There lias been a continuation of the improvement noticed last week as to demand, but the supply lias consisted principally of those of inferior stamp, and there was scircely a perceptible alteration in values. An average number were submitted by auction at the Durham yards on Friday ; competition wasbiisk for those of a g.. id .-tamp, and steady for anything' except weeds, which were comparatively unsaleable. There was no noteworthy alteration in values. Wool, bides, skins, etc. : There has been rather a large number pitched, and tlui demand good ; higher prices would have been obtained had lleshers given more attention to the cleanliness and curing of hides and skins. We, quote: Ox hides at from .'bid to -Ud per lb; cow, 2yd to Hid; calfskins, 3jjd to-l.|d ; skins, from Is fid to us (id each. Cattle: Tmire has been nothing stirring to chronicle. The supply has been a moderate one, with a corresponding demand. Thu number yarded at Newmarket was scarcely up to the average, the bidding was steady throughout. Prices for fat beasts were a shade in favour of the, purchaser, but thorn was no noteworthy alteration in tin) value of other stock. Sheep; The number penned at Newmarket on Tuesday was below the average. Competition was good throughout. The extreme prices given the previous week for inferior sheep made the butchers cautions, but results of sains were satisfactory. We quote fat wethers from ,13s lid to 17s ; fat lambs, (is to Ms lid. Pigs in moderate supply, and well-bred pigs were well competed for at satisfactory prices to tin) vendors. Two good mares found a buyer at £25 each, and three upstanding geldings brought £23 each; an upstanding chestnut draught horse passed bauds at £3O. The lighter class were well competed for, more than usual. Dray, team of two horses, and harness, i’-lfl. Maud at Howick, £l3 per aero. On Tuesday hides and skins were pitched in full quantity, hides, heavy ox, -Id to -lid; medium, 3[d to 3|d ; prime, 37s each; sheepskins, 2s Ud to us Id ; pelts, Is -Id. Small parcel of long wool, 7d per lb. At Bomucra on Thursday dairy ami store cattle were in limited numbers ami full values ; fat cattle, better worth from 5s to 10s each ; sheep, plentiful, and lower in price about Is each ; fat calves in brisk enquiry : pigs, in much larger number than usual, were better worth than for several weeks.
