A STRANGE STORY.
A strange story has been received from Krasna, a town in the remote districts of Russia. The hero of the story is the latest descendant of an Englishman who belonged to the family of the Lords Leslie, and who settled in Russia some 300 years ago, This descendant of the Leslie family, living in a modest condition of fortune, has just received intelligence from England to the effect that the elder branch of the family having become extinct, he is heir to a fortune of ten millions sterling and a peerage, Mr Leslie, it appears, has no desire to sit in the House of Lords, and would prefer to realise the fortune which has fallen to him and continue to reside in Russia, an arrangement difficult to carry out, as family estates in England are generally inalienable. English lawyers are taking stops, by his instructions, to ascertain if it would bo possible to obtain the necessary authorisation for selling the property.
