[by telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT-! Teachers to Communicate with Board in Writing. Auckland, Friday Night. The Board of Education to-day, resolved that all communications from teachers to the board shall be made in writing, and teachers shall not be required to attend the Board Office unless specially instructed to do so. Produce Market. Rather a novelty in auction sales took place at Arthur’s mart to-day. Beef, mutton, pork, etc., forwarded from Waikato in small parcels of 121hs and upwards was offered for sale at per lb., and quite a large quantity was disposed of. Bidding was spirited, and prices ranged slightly under ordinary retail prices. Farm and Dairy Produce. Wholesale: Butter, prime fresh, Is; cheese, good factory, 4d to 4ifd; Canterbury, none; e.ggs, iOd ; lard in bladder, s£d ; bacon and hams, provincial, 5d to Gd; hams, 7d to Sid. Flour Market. Wholesale Southern flour, till 15s, to £l2; oats, 2s 4d to 2s Gd ; maize, 3s to 3s 3d ; Southern potatoes, £3 5s to £3 10s ; pearl barley, 22s ; beans, 3s 3d ; onions, £8 to £9. Shares. The demand for insurance shares is still brisk, but holders are not disposed to quit, even at advanced rates. New Zealand, South British, Union, National, Standard and Accident are all asked for. Bank stocks are quiet, there being sellers of Bank of New Zealand at £ls 18s, and buyers of National at 325, and Colonial at 41s. Land and Mortgage, sales at 20s Gd. Mining stocks are firmer. Royal Oaks sold at 4s. Saxons are quoted at 2s 3d to 2s 4d. Crowns, Manukaua and Trentons are all wanted at advanced prices. Moanataiaris are quoted, sellers 12s.
