Tenders for cleaning the Hamilton West school are invited fur twelve months. Tenders are to be in by the 24th, Wednesday next. A grand concert and dance is coming off at Paterangi on Friday night, September 2nd. Tire Waikato Coal and Shipping Company call for tenders for constructing a tramway and driving a tunnel. Particulars at the Auckland office and at the mines. Messrs. Daley Bros., Photographers, Hamilton, have purchased Mr Reid’s studio and appliances and advertise in this issue their scale of charges. Mr Martin Fitzgerald has lost from Whatawhata four steers, branded F on off rump. The remarks made by the Marquis of Salisbury at the Carlton Club are in no sense “ a surrender," but they indicate that the (lovernment proposes to make its land bill a genuine measure of reform rather than a sham. In its original shape it was a sham, and everybody expected it would be a sham in the shape in which it would he put, upon its final passage. The recent declarations of tiie Premier have settled the point the other way, and it would seem as though the Irish landlords are about to be physicked by their own friends.
