CAMBRIDGE LIBRARY.
A committee meeting was held yesterday afternoon to receive tenders for the additions and alterations to the library. Present: Messrs Gwynneth tin the chair), Sargent, Stewart, Thomson, Hally and Houghton. Mr Richardson, architect, was present, and said some of the tenderers had been to him and complained that lenders had been received after the appointed time. The committee unanimously decided to receive the whole of them, as they would all be opened together, and no injustice would be done. They wore opened, and were as follows :—G. Smerdon, £lO5 ; R. Morse, £93 19s ; McFarlane and Miller £B7 10a; P. D. Murphy, £7B 13s fid ; W. Hogan, £7O ; On the motion of Mr Sargent, seconded by Mr Stewart, Mr Hogan’s tender was accepted. The work will be put in hand at once, and it is hoped that those who promised tu subscribe will pay up on the first call, as advances will require to be made as the work proceeds. ■ It was stated to the committee that Mr Shirley had undertaken the getting up of a concert, to be given on September 23rd, in aid of the library fund.
