HAMILTON LIGHT INFANTRY.
The first squad of this corps hud recruit practice on Saturday at the range at 200 and 300 yards, live shots at each distance. Considering the very unfavourable weather and the fact that many of the squad harl never fired a rifle before, the scoring was very good, an average of 18 points out of a possible 40 being realised. 30 out of a possible 80 in class.firing passes recruits into the second-class. The badness of the light may bo inferred from the fact that after a few shots at 500 yards, firing had to be abandoned, as it was impossible to see the bull’s-eye at that distance. The squad was in charge of Lieut.-Coombes and Sergt. Pearson. No. 2 squad will meet for practice on Saturday next.
