At a meeting of the State-aided Colonic ati«»n Society a scheme was submitted, which suggested that the capital should he subscrilx*! by the public, with an Imperial guarantee of 3 p**r cent- interest; the colonies to grant laud to the emigrants, and the money to he repaid in thiity years, with 4 per ceiit* interest. In the Housr «»f Common* a member whether the <«*»vern*ne»t was prepared to entertain the scheme. Mr replied that the quc.*tlin was of considerable importance, and the scheme a novel one. Hie t hjvernineut would require to consider it with great care before arriving at a decision.
