ALEXANDRA NEWS.

[from our own nmuKsroNDKNT.J A I,kxandra, Monday. At the Native Land Court at Otorobanga on Wednesday last, on the application of tbo natives, a further adjournment was made. Rawiri Rangikaurua, a chief of the Ngatimaniopoto, addressed the court. He was of opinion that the chiefs of Ngatimaniopoto were quite justified in not proceeding with the Rohi Potai case until some decision re the rehearing of the Maraeroa at Taupo had been given. In his opinion it was Manga and flitiri Pacrata that were to blame, ami who induced Te Hcuheu to get the block through the Taupo Land Court, However, no further steps could be taken in the matter until they had received a reply from the Chief Judge. He would like tbc court to go on at Otorohanga now and those interested in the Rohi Potai blocks to submit their lists of names and get all clear ns to who were the claimants for the information of both tbc natives and the Ruropeans. llaulniuru, the well-known chief, said lie only wished that Rawiri had the influence to induce tbc people to go on with the Rohi Potai block, and get it settled. Major Mair adjourned the court until the 20th October next. Here in Alexandra there is little doing, the political fever, which appears to be stirring up Hamilton and Cambridge, having not yet reached us, as our Waipa candidates have not yet, through their friends, commenced mud-slinging at each other. In regard to the Waikato election our sympathies are entirely with Mr G. W. Russell. We want a trial of Mr Vaile’s scheme on our railways, which he has throughout consistently advocated. "* Mr Whyte, an the contrary, is dead against it. Ilia letters in Tub Waikato Ti.mkh a short time since prove this. To keep his place in the House, however, he appears to have changed his mind, like the Ministry lie would like to kieK out. He does not like to lose his billet.
