[by telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.! The Shop Hours Closing Bill. Auckland, Wednesday Night. A deputation has waited upon the Hon. Air Tole relative to the Shop Hours Closing Bill. Mr Tole expressed himself in favour of the Bill, with some modifications. He discussed the details with the deputation. Sir R- Stout at the Thames. Sir R. Stout went to the Thames to-day, and delivers an address there to-night. He returns to-morrow. The Case of James Warren. The bankrupt, Janies Warren, who was sentenced by Mr Justice Ward on Tuesday to a month’s imprisonment, was liberated from gaol to-day. This step was taken in consequence of the strong representations made by Mr Hugh Campbell to the Minister of Justice, of the very serious state of Mrs Warren’s health, and the fact that Warren had himself come up to town in connection with his wife’s health. In the light of these circumstances, Mr Tole consulted with the judge, and with his acqniscence recommended the Governor to order Warren’s liberation, which has accordingly been done. Allocation of Native Reserves for Education. The Wanganui Herald states that the Native Minister intends to submit proposals for the allocation of one-fourth of the proceeds of all native reserves, to provide for the education of natives and their maintenance. The fund to be administered by the Charitable Aid Boards and Boards of Education, thus relieving the native department. Chances of Opposition LeadersPrivate advices from high Opposition sources state that Major Atkinson’s return is considered safe, while Mr Bryce’s chances are not thought to be so good.
