MR RUSSELL'S POLITICS.
TO THE EDITOR. Slli,— As an old friend of your paper and a subscriber of long-standing, would you allow me to say that I really think .Mr G. W. Russell is being rather harshly treated in his candidature for Waikato. You must remember that all cannot be of one shade in politics, and now that Mr Russell has fairly come out as a Ministerial supporter and signified his thorough approval of that most excellent of schemes, “ The Village Settlement,” and also expressed his desire to maintain the education system intact, including the higher branches, I can assure you that he will receive a largo amount of support which would not otherwise be accorded to him, as Mr John Ballance has a great number of admirers in our midst. Hoping the best man may win, —I am. Sir, yours faithfully, Fair Pi.av. Rangiriri, July 21st.
